Norwegian university students visited Chongqing University's School of Arts for pottery classes

On April 15, 2019, nine university students from Norway visited the School of Arts on a trip organized by Chongqing University's School of International Education. They were joined by teachers and students at classroom DYA101 for a practice session of pottery making.

Ms Zhang Hongxia from the School of Arts and three volunteer students, Wang Liqin, Lu Zhiming and Ma Zhidan, warmly received these guests who came from far away, showed them around the pottery classroom and started to experience pottery. It was a whole new experience for the Norwegian guests to make pottery. Ms Zhang and her fellow volunteers patiently taught them how to knead clay, make hand-kneaded pottery sculptures and mould the clay in the limited time of two hours. In the end, each of them finished making a hand-kneaded pottery owl and mastered the skills of moulding the clay, and finished making 1-2 pottery vessels. The Norwegian students were excited, enjoying the close contact with the clay and experiencing the flow and changes of the clay between their fingers. Although it was only a short two hours, they got a lot out of the practice. A week later, the pottery pieces were glazed and fired and brought back to Norway as precious gifts from China. This pottery-making exchange between Chinese and Norwegian students was a complete success.
