On the morning of July 13, 2023, the 6th Asia Pacific Community Music Network, hosted by Universiti Putra Malaysia and co-organized by Chongqing University School of Arts, opened at the Rashdan Baba Hall of Universiti Putra Malaysia. The symposium was attended by scholars from 13 countries around the world, among which 22 scholars from seven countries including China, Malaysia, Britain, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and others gave keynote speeches as guests of the symposium. Dr. Ang Mei Foong, chairman of the 6th Asia Pacific Community Music Network, presided over the meeting. The dean of the Faculty of Human Ecology delivered the opening speech.

From July 13 to 14, the symposium held two scholar-themed dialogues: "Multicultural Malaysia and Community and Music Discussion" and "Community Music in the Asia Pacific Region: 'Trends and Opportunities'". The discussions brought together 10 experts and practitioners in the field of community music in the Asia Pacific region, providing diverse perspectives on the trends and opportunities of community music in the Asia Pacific region, such as innovative community music methods, integration of traditional and modern music practices, impact of community music on social change and welfare, collaboration among different communities, and how to use technology in community music initiatives. In the Asia Pacific region, community music plays an important role in promoting music participation, cultural expression and social cohesion. These themes explored the current trends and opportunities of community music in the Asia Pacific region through studying the community music practices in different countries in the region.

Associate Professor Xiao Ling, director of the Music Department of our school, shared her research results "A Feasibility Study on the Inheritance and Dissemination of 'Luoer Tune' in Community Music Construction", and sang a representative folk song of "Luoer Tune" on the spot, which aroused the atmosphere. At the same time, Huang Xuejie, who graduated from our school's music department with both bachelor's and master's degrees and is currently pursuing a doctoral degree at Universiti Putra Malaysia, shared her latest research results "Content or Platform: The Reality of Developing Music Production Communities", which was highly recognized by the scholars present.

Peng Xiaoxi, vice dean of the School of Arts, gave an online speech, expressing her gratitude to Universiti Putra Malaysia and Dr. Ang Mei Foong for hosting this conference. The 7th Asia Pacific Community Music Network will be hosted by Chongqing University School of Arts. Dean Peng sincerely invited scholars from various countries to gather in China and Chongqing University School of Arts. Finally, a ceremony was held to transfer the conference charter for 2025 between the two sides.
