Teachers from the School of Arts Went to Milan, Italy to Conduct International Academic Exchange Activities

From November 14th to 18th, 2024, Professor Sun Junqiao, director of the Department of Design in School of Arts, and Associate Professor Li Gang, director of the Metaverse Research Center, went to Milan, Italy. They were invited to attend the 2024 Tsinghua International Conference on Art and Design Education (ICADE) hosted by Tsinghua University and organized by the Academy of Arts and Design, Tsinghua University, Milan Academy of Art and Design, and the China-Italy Design Innovation Hub. They also visited Politecnico di Milano and Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti di Milano in Italy.



The ICADE took "New Dimensions: Imagination Beyond the Horizon " as its theme. More than 50 art and design colleges and institutions from 14 countries around the world, as well as over 150 presidents, professors, and experts and scholars from multiple fields gathered at the Tsinghua University Milan Campus in Bovisa.


During the two-day forum, more than 30 experts and scholars in interdisciplinary fields respectively carried out academic discussions on topics such as the deduction of aesthetic paradigms, the surprises of human-machine collaboration, the formulas of diverse environments, the changes in disciplinary boundaries, the cultivation of future talents, and the construction of academic ecology, jointly exploring new directions, new methods, and new dimensions for the cultivation of future art and design talents.



During the conference, Sun Junqiao and Li Gang respectively participated in 6 theme forums, 3 round-table discussions, and the international student art exhibition. During the conference, the two teachers studied in-depth the academic insights of the forum with experts and scholars from all over the world, discussed the frontiers in the fields of design discipline education and teaching and project practice under the new context, actively communicated with experts and scholars and established new working contacts, laying a good foundation for the subsequent development of relevant academic activities and talent introduction in the School of Arts, and also actively expanding the international influence of the School of Arts.
