2020-2021 Academic Year (Spring) “Voluntary Portrait Painting” activity for Graduate Students of the School of Arts

On 25 March 2021, the 2020-2021 (Spring) “Voluntary Portrait Painting” activity, jointly organised by Chongqing University’s Fine Arts Masters Studio and the Graduate Committee of the School of Arts, was successfully held at the South Square of the First Cafeteria of Chongqing University’s Hu Xi Campus. A total of 12 postgraduate painters were invited to paint the portraits for interested faculty and students from the University.

The event was received by students and teachers with much enthusiasm. The volunteers worked magic with portraits and gave in-depth explanations of disciplines, majors and fields of study and their respective features, as well as areas of research for postgraduate programs at the School of Arts.

Special guest Wang Qi, CPC Secretary of the School of Arts, praised the vivid and diversified portraits of varied styles, such as realistic, caricature and abstract expressions. Portraits were also painted with different tools, including pencils, syringe pens, markers and electronic brushes. Secretary Wang encouraged the artists and the volunteers and wished for the best for future sessions of the “Voluntary Portrait Painting” activity of the School of Arts.

The event was a good opportunity to give free portraits to teachers and students, and a platform to showcase the features of the School of Arts. It gave students from other academic units in the University a better chance to understand the School of Arts, and helped to entertain campus life. The event was widely praised by teachers and students of the University.
